Birthday Colours

Today I have an entry for the Ribbon Reel challenge 14 which is based on the inspiration from this beautiful picture PLUS using turquoise, hot pink and cream.  I was at the NEC last weekend so have lots of lovely new goodies to play with and some new ribbons from The Ribbon Reel...here is my take

It's my big sister's birthday at the end of the month so this card will be finding it's way to Scotland soon, my son thinks it's far too bright, but do I care...NO :-)

The card bank started off life twice the size but that's way too much surface area for a card so I have cut it down, it didn't quite fold in half so I have added the ribbon from my stash to the side.  The flowery and blue papers are from the Wild Rose Studios, Cherry Cup Cake paper stack and the swirly paper is from my stash.  I have edged them with a border punch by Stampin Up.

For the ribbon banners I have used blue and white stripy ribbon from the Ribbon Reel and the plain blue was commandeered from around someone's birthday cake!!

The sentiment is from an old Hero Arts stamps I have had for yonks which I have stamped onto a shape cut from Nestabilities, then topped with some punched butterflies and a little bit of bling.  Finally I have added the flower centres using liquid pearls - my new favourite crafty gismo I bought last weekend.

I'd also like to enter this card into the following challenges:

Craft your days away challenge 33 - embellishment bingo

Colour Create challenge 83 - Turquoise, Deep ping & Ivory

Right, off to rescue my next project that may have gone very wrong due to an air bubble in the glossy accents tube!!

Thanks for stopping by,

The Ribbon Reel Challenge #10

Today has been a big day for my boy - His first day at 'Big School' and just when I thought it had gone without a hitch he's now overtired and worried, I'm sure it will all be fine in the morrning.  So I have a card I made to wish him on his way for The Ribbon Reel Challenge #10 with a theme of 'Back to School' and this is photo for inspiration:

The challenge asks for a card using the colours in the photo plus school elements and ribbon/bakers twine.  I made this card over the weekend so added a bit of green to it for the challenge!!

I've used a white linen card blank, then stamped 'Racing Ted' from Funstamps onto another piece of white linen, coloured him in and layered on some blue from my stash.

This is layered onto some ribbon from my stash which I believe originated from a birthday cake - nothing like a bit of recycling!!

This new school wording was cut on  my sizzix sidekick using the Rat-a-Tat alphabet set - I'd forgotten how hard they are to stick on!!  Then finally I added some card candy from craftwork cards.

Hope you like my card

WMSC59 & The Ribbon Reel Challenge 8 " Citrus Sunshine"

Today I have a card for two challenges - I am now on two weeks holiday and have promised myself lots of ME time to make and do!!

The first challenge is from the Ribbon Reel called "Citrus Sunshine" and has the beautiful photo as inspiration plus turquoise, yellow and a touch of green plus any neutral.  Secondly is a sketch from Waltzing Mouse Stamps and submissions close in 13 minutes ARGH!!!

You can just about see the dash of green is a piece of ribbon threaded through the hole at the top which I have edged with a metal hoop - I can't remember what these are called DOH!! This is actually all that is holding the card together.

Everything I have used has been found in my stash - trying to get it all used up so I can replenish with lots of lovely new stuff.

Leaving this for you to see what I have done so I can hopefully meet the 13 minute deadline which is now probably only 5!!

Thanks for stopping by,

Jo :-)

The Ribbon Reel Challenge #6

I'm feeling quite pleased with myself today as I have managed to churn out 2 cards in as many days - not done that in a long while.

One of my cards I am entering in the The Ribbon Reel Challenge #6 which is a sketch challenge:

This is my take on the sketch.....

The two background papers are from my stash, I have cut them out using a wiggly guillotine from Creative Memories.  The larger of the two blue circles is an offcut from Craft Creations with the smaller cut using Nestibilities small circles.

This card is for my friend who is a seamstress - so the embelishments are just perfect, the detail on the sewing machine is great - these are all from a pack by Crafttime - I have a close up picture but I can't get the uploader to work right now!!

The ribbons I have used are also from my stash (trying to use what I have right now!!)- the blue and orange spotty ribbon was originally one of those annoying little hangy things on a top!!  And finally a the blue gems to bling it up a bit.

Thanks for Stopping my,

Jo xx

Less is More - In The Frame

I'm cutting it a bit fine this week for a Less is More submission, but wanted to wait until after Tuesday to post in case my friend Pauline took a sneeky peek at my blog and spied her own birthday card!! Then I had a virusfest of infections and went into computer crisis - but all sorted so here it is!  This weeks challenge is 'In The Frame'

To make my frame I cut the shape using Nestabilities Large Label die on a random piece of scrap card, then using a technique I last used for my Art O'Level (remember them?) I edged the cut frame with two shades of blue chalk pastels.  This was then placed on my card and using cotton wool swirled the colour onto the card to make the frame.
The wording is from one of my favourite stamps by Inkadinkadoo and the little flower from PSX.

Thanks for stopping by. Jo x

The Ribbon Reel Challenge #3 - Sketch

After yesterdays sucessful mojo finding experience I've rustled up another card - that's 2 in as many days   (bit of a record for me at the moment!)

I'm entering this card for The Ribbon Reel Challenge #3 which is  based on this sketch:
And here's what I came up with:

I've used a white card with a pre cut square apperture and inserted some silver pearlescent card both from Craft Creations that has been embossed using a spellbinders embossing folding with birthday sentiments.

I've added some ribbon from my stash which I've also made the bow from, along with a sparkly dress from Crafttime party dresses pack and finally some purple bling and a silver card candy dot to add the finishing touch to the bow.

Thanks for taking a look.  Jo x

Less is More, Waltzingmouse Sketch Challenge

Today I am attempting to rejuvenate my creative mojo as I haven't made a card for absolutely yonks and this was confirmed by my Goddaughter who has commented that this is the first year  (in 13) I haven't hand made her birthday card.  Better pull my socks up!!

I am entering this card for the WMSC50 Sketch and Less is More.  Below is the graphic for the WMSC challenge and Less is More has asked for monochromatic.

Here is my first effort with the just about rejuvenated mojo! It's meant to be a birthday card for a girlfriend, but I think it's a bloke like so may have to make another!!

I have stamped the tea cups from the WMS Afternoon Tea stamp set onto two shades of blue from my stash - they are embossed in black although I don't think my photo shows the embossing very well.  The blue squares were cut with nestabilities squares small die.

The sentiment from WMS Afternoon Tea Sentiments stamps set has been stamped and embossed directly onto a cream card blank again from my stash.

Thanks for stopping by - I'm off to see what else I can create :-)
